It is an absolute pleasure to be sitting behind a keyboard and typing out blog posts again. I have never been good at journaling. Keeping up with a written piece of work everyday was daunting. But, the openness of a blog takes away from that pressure. I was able to focus on healing and working on myself before even taking care of this website. I was able to realize a few things about myself and my capabilities during this current road of recovery that I am on.

For those who are unaware, I underwent a spinal fusion in my lower/lumbar spine into my sacrum. I have the joy of having hardware in my body now as L5-S1 are now fused with screws and regrowing bone to fuse together. This has to be one of the most major surgeries I’ve had (& I’ve had a lot of surgeries). I wanted to take the proper time to give my body to heal; but I realized wallowing in bed wasn’t helping my mentals either. I poured energy into walking more throughout the day. I’ve returned to streaming slowly and now, a blog post.
Recovery is an amazing feat; ain’t it?

I spent a lot of my early days after surgery in bed. It was only about a week, but to me, it felt like a lifetime. I was confined to using my laptop and my iPad and even then, I didn’t have the want to be on those. All of my friends were checking on me via Discord. I was watching other friends’ streams via Twitch. I was doing everything at a faraway position. I started becoming more and more depressed. I noticed that I was alienating and isolating myself from people who only wanted what was best for me.
Then, the nurse kept reminding me to walk.
And I said: fuck it.
So, I made it a point to at least get out of bed and walk a few laps, either around the apartment or the building’s courtyard, every few hours. Granted, I couldn’t sit at my desk for hours yet. I couldn’t really sit for long. But, the more I walked, the stronger I felt. I was even forcing myself to get outside when the weather was accommodating. I made sure to use my walker. Then, I was able to move to the cane. Now, I don’t need the cane indoors, but I do take it with me if I’m ambulating out in public.

Do you want to know something a little humorous to me?
I’m moving better than I was prior to the surgery. I do still need my wheelchair on longer excursions in public, but I walked a grocery store two weeks after surgery and I would’ve never been able to do that pre-surgery. The back pain is little to none, even with the recovery. I’ve barely needed my harder pain medicine and have stuck to using Tylenol sparingly. I use my brace as directed and to be honest, that’s one of the biggest pains. I hate this darn thing! Sometimes, I do make it too tight and I do get some sore ribs here and there. What can I say? I guess I don’t even know my own strength!
What else can I fill you guys in on?
I am going to be getting back into streaming and my community more and more over the next coming weeks. The next coming weeks also boast an entrance into October which is my birthday month. There will be a stream celebration for my birthday, as well as a month-long goal to assist me further with the recovery of surgery.
My permanent wheelchair (yes, the pink custom one with the pop-off wheels?!?!) has been approved by insurance and now, I eagerly await as the factory is assembling the product pieces. Once those ship to the warehouse, they will set up a delivery date and time and bring me my new wheelchair. If you know anything about my current wheelchair/wheels, you’ll know that I abhor this piece of garbage. The brakes don’t work. The armrests just fall off. It’s way too big for me now. I can barely propel myself in it. When they fit me for a custom wheelchair back in July, I cried when I sat in the prototype because, what do you mean that being in a wheelchair was supposed to be that easy all along?
That is something I have been looking forward to for months and for my birthday, I’ll be able to have a set of wheels that fit me the way they are supposed to fit.
Another thing… our October Creator Spotlight might be a little late. With me healing and stuff, I did not reach out with ample time to our potential October candidate for the Creator Spotlight. I want to make sure I give ample time to the candidate to answer the interview questions and provide the proper pictures and stuff requested!

Before I close out this returning blog post, I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who has checked in on me. Thank you for those who came to provide clicks and views to my website everyday. Thank you to those who took over in my Discord to provide company, entertainment, and awesome times + laughs!
I could sit here, thanking everyone for hours.
Last but not least, I want to particularly thank from the bottom of my heart: Bryce and Tori. My partner. My best friend. Both of them have smashed the words ‘support system’ out of the park and they have never failed to work together to ensure nothing but the best for me. I would be lost without my people to guide me through this world and these two are such guardian angels for me. I love them both very much.
Thank you, guys.
